I know .. it has been a while since I have last posted…. but I have a good reason! I have become completely obsessed with something new. Doll making!

I was inspired by a magazine clipping of Jess Brown dolls that a friend sent me. I admit…. I may have jacked some of her ideas…. like the muslin body (which I modified ) the tea dyeing, and the irresistible button arms… but all the other details were purely of my imagination. I have found my new love!
I am now officially a doll maker.
I have so much fun daydreaming of hair styles and dresses and accessories. My every thought is completely consumed by these little lovelies.
What I found most challenging were the dresses. I have made lots and lots of home decor and bags… but no clothes. Much less little teeny tiny itty bitty dolls clothes.
My first doll dress came together by pure luck… and it is definitely sloppily finished. After realizing it would take me forever to figure out how to do this on my own, and that I really didn’t want to mess up the shirts and dresses I planned to repurpose, I went out and bought an old sewing book from 1959 on constructing clothing. I studied up a bit on finishing techniques, and got to work on more miniature dresses for my oddly shaped little girlies. Each one is getting better and better! Now I just need to work on my speed… ha!
Their hair is constructed of old Cashmere sweaters that I may or may not have taken from my husband ( they are too short for him now!) And their clothing is made from repurposed regular human sized clothes. You know.. the way rag dolls are meant to be made!

Did I mention that I am in LOVE!?!
